How To Pluck A Lace Front Wig?

It is no secret that lace front wigs are among the best wigs in the market today. So if you are looking for the perfect wig to rock, look no further than the lace front wig. That’s because this wig is very natural-looking, durable, and beautiful. One of the best ways you can enhance your lace wig’s beauty is by plucking it.

Wig plucking has been around for a very long time. Hairstylists have been doing it for quite some time to achieve a natural look for their clients. However, some wigs come pre-plucked, saving wig-wearers time. These pre-plucked lace wigs have thin hairlines, giving the impression of a natural hairline.

But if you buy a wig that isn’t pre-plucked, you can pluck it yourself at home. In this article, we give you a guide on how you can pluck your wig at home. But before that, let’s understand what plucking a wig is and why you should pluck your red lace front wig.

What is wig plucking?

Plucking a wig is the process of using a tweezer to remove excess hair around the hairline of a lace-front wig. A wig that has not been plucked looks unreal that anybody will notice that it is a wig. So, if you want a more natural-looking wig, grab that tweezers and get rid of the excess hair around your wig’s hairline. It will even make your wig weigh lighter because the excess hair usually makes the wig bulkier.

Why pluck a wig?

Now that you have a better understanding of what wig plucking is all about, let’s see why this process is important. Plucking your lace-front wig can help you achieve that natural-looking hairline. As mentioned above, an un-plucked lace wig usually has a very straight hairline that looks so unreal.

Consequently, a natural hairline usually has some hair strands growing around it. So, if you want to achieve that natural look like your natural hairline when wearing a wig, you need to pluck it. However, if you buy a pre-plucked wig, there is no need to pluck it. A pre-plucked lace front wig also makes it easy to wear your lace front wig in a ponytail.

How to pluck your lace front wig?

Step 1: Bleach the knots

Take two scoops of bleach powder and mix with a developer. Keep the consistency of the developer slightly thicker. This is to prevent it from seeping into the hair. Apply this concoction gently to the wig. Do not apply too much pressure, as it can sink the bleach right into the hair.

Let the bleach rest in the wig for about 40 minutes for best results. Apply shampoo to the bleached knots, and let it rest for about 4 minutes before rinsing.

Step 2: Put your lace front wig on a mannequin head

Once you have bleached your lace front wig and dried it completely, put it on a mannequin head. Use the pins to secure it. This ensures that your wig will stay in place and not slide off when you start plucking it.

Run the comb through the frontal part of the hair to get rid of any knots and tangles. Next, apply a bit of mousse to the hairline. This makes the tweezing process much easier.

Step 3: Start plucking your lace front wig

Finally, we have reached where you have been waiting for – how to pluck your lace front wig. Get a pair of the best tweezers for the best results. Start plucking some hairs from one side and work your way to the other. Be sure not to pluck too many hairs. Part the hair on your lace front wig in two sections and take your tweezers and start plucking the hairline towards you to get a more natural look.

Step 4: Create your part

All lace front wigs are not created equal. Some come with a pre-made part down the middle, to the side, with multiple parts, or with no parting at all [also referred to as a free part].

With a free part lace front wig, you will be able to choose where you want your part to lay and then create it. You can do this before you create the full wig or after. Play around with the parting to get an elegant and trendy look.

Step 5: Create natural edges

Adjust your transparent lace wig accordingly. Don’t forget the baby hairs. To achieve this, you need to separate a small section of the hair from the hairline that you would want to use as baby hairs. Use a razor to cut the hair down until the hair is at your desired baby hair length.
